Description/Competencies: This developmental level course will provide participants with a working knowledge of the diverse components and sophisticated complex processes required for administering a concessions program. The course will provide personnel the knowledge and skills of the private business world in order to be able to better understand and address the various programmatic components such as contract law, financial management, maintenance plans, operating plans, insurance, building improvement programs. Concession Program Administration will be offered on a rotating basis with program content changing due to the diversity of the various components that make up the Concession Program. Particular focus will be placed on negotiation skills and conflict resolution. Primary competencies addressed will be NPS Program Management and Concessions Program Management, Communications Skills, Interpersonal Skills/Human Relations and General Management Techniques.

Title: Orientation to NPS Concession

Description/Competencies: This self-study program, has been designed as a forty hour training program for new concession employees (full-time & collateral). The program includes a notebook, as well as a video which is to be viewed with the appropriate section of the notebook. The program will allow participants to learn basic techniques/approaches in concession contracting, finance and operational components of the Concession program. A mentor will be assigned as an advisor to participants. Participants will be responsible for completing all program requirements independently.
