ENTRY LEVEL
Description: Performs trainee/entry level bindery machine operator duties under the supervision of a journeyman-level bindery operator.

Ability to use general tools
Ability to make accurate measurements
Ability to make minor mechanical adjustments to equipment
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and interpret operating instructions
Ability to select the appropriate machinery/equipment required to do the work
Skill and ability to detect mechanical malfunctions and adjustments
Ability to perform cleaning maintenance on bindery/printing equipment
Ability to spot check for compliance with appropriate specifications
Ability to follow established safety procedures and hazardous warnings (manufacturer's guidelines)
DEVELOPMENTAL LEVEL
Description: Performs bindery duties, bindery equipment operation and operates various printing equipment. Requires supervision only when confronted with unusual work situations and/or equipment problems.
I. Technical

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Same as entry level, with more complexity and minimal supervision, plus:
Ability to interpret more complex written and oral instructions
Operational knowledge, skills, and ability to operate stitching, collating, folding, and spiral binding and various printing equipment
Ability to follow manufacturer's guidelines and perform routine maintenance on bindery/printing equipment
FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL
Description: Performs all bindery duties, bindery equipment operations and operates various printing equipment totally independently. Trains and assists entry and developmental level personnel.

Same as developmental level, with more complex tasks and duties, plus:
Ability to provide outstanding customer service
Ability to make complex decisions independently and schedule work as required
Ability to train entry and developmental personnel in all technical areas
