FEE COLLECTOR (TELLER), GS-530


Essential Competencies

ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL LEVEL

Description: These competencies identify the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform duties in collecting fees and the accountability of government funds and stock. Work is performed under close supervision.

I. Cash Processing

A. Collecting fees
B. Issuance of passports/permits
C. Deposits
D. Reports

II. Accountability

A. Balancing accountable funds/stocks

III. Visitor Information

A. Providing general park information to visitors

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic knowledge of fee collection rules, regulations and procedures to collect and disburse government funds and track accountable stock.

Ability to prepare bank deposits

Skill in maintaining security of funds and accountable property

Ability to prepare reports, such as shift reports, revenue remittances

Ability to use programmable cash registers, calculators, and other similar types of equipment

Knowledge of procedures in selling permits and handling cash transactions

Knowledge of the park resources and general interpretive information concerning park programs

FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL

Description: These competencies identify the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform duties independently with general supervision.

I. Cash Processing

No additional competencies

II. Accountability

A.Securing, requisitioning and maintaining accountable stock
B.Cash register audits

III. Visitor Information

No additional competencies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

General knowledge of basic banking practices

Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to various types of receiving and disbursing transactions

In-depth knowledge of fee collection rules, regulations, and procedures to collect and disburse funds and track accountable stock.

Ability to maintain strict accountable records
