Program Title: Leadership Seminar
Number: SML-4001
Program Description: The 40-hour Leadership Seminar will help
supervisors and managers gain a new understanding of their
personal leadership characteristics and increased appreciation
of the diversity and strengths of their employees. It will also
help them manage and adapt to change in the workplace. The
seminar consists of a series of critical leadership issues
presented for open discussion. Participants will be asked to
review their current thinking and practices as they relate to
the issues. In the end, each participant will address the
question, "What personal responsibility will I accept to make a
difference?" A special feature of this program is BENCHMARKS,
a confidential, professionally designed multi-rater assessment
that will help the participants develop a better understanding
of their personal leadership skills and perspectives.
The Seminar will fulfill DOI requirements for performance
appraisal and risk management training, and NPS requirements for
financial/asset management training. It will fulfill the OPM
requirement for a 40-hour supervisory training program every two
years. It will also provide an introduction to cost-saving
alternate dispute resolution techniques. Participants will
include all permanent supervisors, work leaders, managers, and

may attend, regardless of their supervisory status.
