State Route 92 is the only road to the Monument. In recent years, it has become increasingly popular for recreational and competitive bicyclists and runners, and hosts several organized races and rides each summer. S.R. 92 is a state highway managed by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) as a right-of-way through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (USFS) and Timpanogos Cave National Monument (NPS). Typically, any event on S.R. 92 through the Monument will require three permits (UDOT, USFS, NPS). In the interest of efficiency, the three agencies work together to review, approve or deny, and schedule event permits. Because most large events must be planned months in advance, permit applications for SR 92 must be received by the three agencies no later than November for the following summer season. Generally, the USFS receives the applications and coordinates the review between the three agencies. If an event is approved, then UDOT and NPS permits and plans can be coordinated as needed. We recommend that if you are considering an organized event on SR 92, you contact one or more of the following agency contacts as soon as possible for further information: USFS: Billy R.
