On September 22, 2013, Thomas Stone National Historic Site will welcome the Port Tobacco Pickers Bluegrass Band, who will be in concert on the back porch of the Thomas Stone Mansion. Seating will be on the garden terraces so bring a blanket or chairs and relax and listen to this highly acclaimed Bluegrass Band from Southern Maryland.
The program will begin at 3:00 p.m. on the porch and parking is available at the Visitor Center as well as at the mansion.The concert will last about an hour.
Thomas Stone National Historic Site will be open for this event from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tours will be offered on the hour and half-hour starting at 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The park contains Haberdeventure, the restored home of Thomas Stone, early 19th century farm buildings and the family's cemetery, a Visitor Center and hiking trails. The Visitor Center currently features an exhibit, Every Tree Tells A Story, sponsored by the Cultural Landscape Foundation.The exhibit includes 27 large formatphotos by a dozen photographers including National Geographic photographer, Jim Balog all chosen for their individual styles and sensibility. The Visitor Center also contains a sales area and restrooms.
