Created by The Cultural Landscape Foundation as part of their Landslide series, the exhibit is a selection of 27 images of threatened trees or groups of trees that were selected from more than 100 nominees for the photographer's unique style and sensibility used to highlight the endangered trees in our midst. The photographers were encouraged to bring their personal vision to the task while capturing the qualities that make their particular tree worth respecting and preserving.
Each year we lose as many as 12 billion trees to fuel, farming, building materials and other less necessary purposes despite the fact that one mature tree provides enough oxygen in its growing season for 10 people.
The exhibit will remain at the Visitor Center through the end of June.
