Visitor Centers
The park has three visitor centers with informative exhibits about Theodore Roosevelt and the natural history of the area. Books, maps, and other items are available in the visitor center bookstores.
The South Unit Visitor Center is located at the park entrance in Medora, ND, and is open year-round. The North Unit Visitor Center is located at the North Unit park entrance and is open year round with limited days of operation in the winter. The Painted Canyon Visitor center, located at Exit 32 on I-94, is open April 1 to November 11.
Roosevelt's Maltese Cross Cabin
Theodore Roosevelt's Maltese Cross Cabin is located behind the South Unit Visitor Center in Medora. The cabin is open for self-guided tours during the off-season months and rangers provide guided tours during the summer.
Audio/Visual Programs
T.R. Country is a 13-minute video on the badlands narrated using Theodore Roosevelt's own words. It is shown upon request at the South Unit Visitor Center.
