National Park Invites Families to Junior Ranger Day

Calling all Junior Rangers!Learn how to be the best Junior Ranger you can be by becoming an active steward of the outdoors!Kids ages 6 to 12 and their families are invited to join Park Rangers for Junior Ranger Day in Theodore Roosevelt National Park on Saturday, August 13.

Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. MDT at the Picnic Area in the park's South Unit and will end at 1:00 p.m. with a Junior Ranger graduation ceremony. Kids will learn about how to take care of parks and the outdoors, take a hike along the Little Missouri River, learn how to be prepared in the outdoors from an Eagle Scout, and make a terrarium with the help of an old pop bottle.

"A national park is a perfect place for kids to learn about environmental stewardship and how it can be applied in everyday situations," said Superintendent Valerie Naylor."Junior Rangers are a tremendous help to the park, whether they're spending time here or taking care of the environment at home."

Children must be accompanied by an adult for the day's activities and should bring water, insect repellent, and sunscreen; an empty 2-liter bottle is suggested for the terrarium activity.Junior Rangers are invited bring their own lunch and join Park Rangers after the graduation ceremony to chat, relax, and enjoy badlands views at the Picnic Area.
