Start the new year with a visit to your local national park.  Theodore Roosevelt National Park will waive both entrance and camping fees for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 21.

"Winter is a beautiful and quiet time to visit any of the national park units in North Dakota," said Superintendent Valerie Naylor. "Wildlife watching at this time of year is spectacular, as are the photographic opportunities. We invite everyone to take this opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy winter."

The other two national park units in North Dakota - Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site near Williston and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site near Stanton - are among the more than 200 national parks that never charge entrance fees.

In addition to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, national parks will offer free entrance during National Park Week, April 22-26; on National Park Service Founders' Day, August 25; on National Public Lands Day, September 28; and the weekend of Veterans' Day, November 9 - 11.

Information on all 398 units of the National Park System is available at www.nps.gov.
