Theodore Roosevelt National Park to Waive Fees for Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to camp in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the middle of winter? Have you wanted to spend a few quiet winter days skiing and snowshoeing in the snowy North Dakota Badlands? Test your winter camping and outdoor skills as Theodore Roosevelt National Park waives both entrance and camping fees for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, January 15 – 17.

"Winter is a beautiful and quiet time to visit the park," said Superintendent Valerie Naylor. "Wildlife watching at this time of year is spectacular, as are the photographic opportunities. This is also an excellent chance to test your mettle against the elements with free winter camping and great cross country skiing and snowshoeing."

In addition to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, national parks will offer free entrance during National Park Week, April 16 – 24; on the first day of summer, June 21; on National Public Lands Day, September 24; and the weekend of Veterans' Day, November 11 – 13.

Information on all 394 National Park Units is available at www.nps.gov.
