There are no fees or reservations required to visit Theodore Roosevelt Island. Limited parking is available on a first come, first serve basis. Generally the parking lot fills quickly on weekends. Parking on the grass is not permitted.

The living National Christmas Tree, a Colorado blue spruce originated, from York, Pennsylvania and was planted on the Ellipse on October 20, 1978. The tree stands as a daily reminder of the holiday spirit and of the tradition each succeeding President has participated in since 1923.
