How do lichens benefit the ecosystem?

Objective

Students will learn about the symbiotic relationship between fungus and alga.
Students will also learn to identify some of the more common lichen and their key
characteristics.

Preparation

Walk school ground/trail around school to locate and identify lichens before class-have examples of the three different types if available.
