As steward of our national cultural and natural treasures, the NPS is taking a leading role in sustainability and climate change mitigation to ensure those special places are around for the enjoyment of future generations. The Sustainable Operations and Climate Change branch incorporates energy management, pollution prevention, sustainable building design and climate change programs into a comprehensive program designed to assist parks with protecting their resources. These four program areas are poised to assist the NPS in reaching the bold organizational goals set forth in the NPS Green Parks Plan. The Green Parks Plan is an innovative vision for operational sustainability and represents an integral component of our core conservation and education mission.
