This site commemorates John Jollifee, Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney from 1833-37, for his efforts as an anti-slavery attorney. His first case involved defending John Mahan, Amos and John Pettyjohn for criminal riot involving a fugitive slave. Jollifee was involved in seventeen other cases defending fugitive slaves including Margret Garner.
