The Catoctin Center for Regional Studies researches the history of Mid-Maryland and the surrounding region. Several projects of the Center focus on Underground Railroad issues, including collecting copies of archival material, researching Freedmens [sic] Bureau activities in the region, field examination of area African-American churches/UGRR connections, researching the life of James W.C. Pennington, and sponsoring a conference with several UGRR-related papers.
