Court and Customs records document the Atlanta slave trade, including domestic trade within the southern ports of Charleston, Mobile, and Savannah. Original ship manifests from the U.S. Customs Service dating from 1808 include the name of the ship and its master, port of departure, port of destination, and a list of the slaves on board.The National Archives Southeast Region hold approximately 15,000 manifests from the ports of Mobile, Savannah, Charleston, and Beaufort, South Carolina.
