
There are more than 5000 linear feet of collections within the Center. These collections include more than 3,000 maps, 3,159 reels of microfilm. The Center holds a rare book collection of more than 3,300 volumes, a Louisiana book collection of more than 12, 00 volumes. Louisiana government documents, more than 300 newspapers, and 10 linear ft. of oral history tapres. Of these materials approximately 15%-20% contain information related to the Underground Railroad or slave related activitis. Although a small collection in overall size, it holds valuable information regarding slave legal policies, trials, religious attitudes, fugitives, labor, living conditions, marriages, baptisms, deaths, and kinship
