The CCHO houses over four hundred local history books as well as pamphlets of area abolitionists and freedom seekers. CCHO has also compiled a collection of obituaries from area citizens affiliated with the UGRR and in many instances pursued supplementary information connected to their lives, including deed searches, church attendance, and census records. This information provides CCHO with a better sense of how African Americans were employed, their place of birth, their personal affiliations, and ultimately, their proximity to Underground Railroad activities.
