Opinion: Compare and contrast present-day domesticated dogs (pets) and domesticated dogs that lived on San Nicolas Island in the 1800s (nineteenth century). Include reasons for why they might have different lives.
Informative/explanatory: Describe a possible daily routine that Karana would have followed in order to take care of Rontu. Use precise language and domain-specific vocabulary to inform about or explain the topic.
Narrative:
Option 1: Write a first-person narrative of a domesticated dog meeting a wild dog for the first time. Include dialogue.
Option 2: Write a fable about the first domesticated dog. Your fable must include an animal acting and talking like a person and must state a lesson learned at the end. Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events.
