National Park Sites Related to Civil Rights

The National Park Service preserves and protects powerful places — the physical memory of our nation's civil right's history. Some have been established as units of the National Park System, and are therefore wholly managed by the NPS. Still others have been designated as National Historic Landmarks, have been listed in the National Register of Historic Places, or are supported by other heritage preservation programs where the NPS facilitates and fosters preservation at the community level.

Visiting these places - virtually or in person - allows you to form your own connections to the story of Civil Rights in America.
