Comprehensive Management Planning

The trail would not exist without the support and advocacy of public and private partners. The successful development and long-term care of the trail will depend on the participation and coordination of public agencies, non-profit and for profit organizations and private citizens.

Relationship with State of Maryland Star-Spangled Banner Scenic Byway

The National Park Service is working closely with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Division of Tourism Film and the Arts in the planning process for the both Star-Spangled National Historic Trail and the complementary Star-Spangled Banner National Scenic Byway. The NPS is also coordinating the development of the Trail with the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission.  The NPS and Maryland will confer in the identification of investment priorities and coordinate the implementation of priority projects based on available funding.
