The Legacy of Stones River Program Series

Illustration of the Battle of Stones River.

The Legacy of Stones River program series began in 2002 with a goal of considering the Battle of Stones River within the broad context of the American Civil War. Offered about every 18 months, each program features scholarly lectures in Murfreesboro and programs by park rangers on the battlefield.

The Legacy of Stones River series is coordinated by the National Park Service and the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area. Other partners include the Center for Historic Preservation at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), the History Department at MTSU, Eastern National, and the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield.

The next installment in this series will be The Legacy of Stones River: Why They Fought on March 20, 2010.
