Tornado Damage Update

National Park Service crews have managed to open most of the areas damaged by the Good Friday tornado.

Thanks to the efforts of National Park Service employees and equipment from Big South Fork National Recreation Area, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mammoth Cave National Park, and Natchez Trace Parkway, visitor access to many park areas has been restored.

All park areas with exception of some trails are now open to the public. Visitors should expect periodic closures of areas that are now open due to ongoing long-term recovery efforts.

Areas that are closed will be marked with signs, barriers, and/or tape. Please do not enter these areas since they still present serious safety hazards.

Individuals who enter closed areas will be fined.
