Fire Management

photo: Prescribed burn at Stones River National Park

Fire is critical part of some ecosystems and can be an effective tool for restoring native plants to the battlefield. Prescribed burning can destroy large populations of invasive exotic plants and encourage the growth of native species without using expensive and potentially dangerous chemicals.

Careful planning and safety procedures are needed before using fire as a management tool.
