9 AM - Welcome & Orientation
9:30 AM - History, Mission, and Resources of the National Park Service
Educators will learn how the idea of national parks and the National Park Service became one of our nation’s most important accomplishments. They will also be introduced to the wide array of sites and resources the the National Park Service offers to teachers and students.
11:00 AM - More Than A Battlefield: The Tennessee Civil War Heritage Area
Teachers will discover that the National Park Service helps support a number of Civil War sites in Tennessee that can help students learn more about local and state history.
11:30 AM - Lunch
12:00 PM - Bus departs for Stones River National Battlefield
AFTERNOON SESSIONS - Stones River National Battlefield
12:15 PM - Stones River National Battlefield Visitor Center
Rangers will orient participants to the museum and library collections at Stones River National Battlefield.
1:00 PM - Stones River NB Resource Tour
Participants will spend three hours exploring the resources and stories of Stones River National Battlefield.
