From January through mid-April 2010, students ages 14 and under are invited to share their experiences at Stones River National Battlefield and other national parks through photos and drawings.

Students who take pictures that best capture the unique historic and natural features of the battlefield will receive a digital camera and have their pictures featured on the park’s website and on the Nashville Public Television website. The runners-up in each category will receive a gift certificate for the Eastern National bookstore in the park visitor center.

WHO: All students ages 10-14 may enter.

WHAT: Send us your best photograph in one or both of the following categories.

A Hard Earned Victory – The student photo that best represents the story of the major Civil Battle that raged at Stones River National Battlefield from December 31, 1862 through January 2, 1863 will win this category.

The Living Battlefield – Students who explore and capture the natural beauty of the battlefield will have a chance to win in this category.

Picturing America's Best Idea - The best student photograph or drawing of a scene from any national park they have visited will win this category.

WHERE: Mail or bring photographs/drawings to: Stones River National Battlefield Attn: John McKay 3501 Old Nashville Highway Murfreesboro, TN 37129

WHY: The winner in each category will receive a digital camera. Second and third place winners will receive gift certificates that can be used in the park’s book store. All winning photos will be featured on the park and Nashville Public Television web site.

WHEN: The contest runs from January 1, 2010 through April 12, 2010. HOW: It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Select YOUR best photograph for either category. Please only one entry in each category per child. It must be in jpeg form on a disk labeled (sharpie is fine) with your first name and last initial, phone # and e-mail address. Like this: John-S , (615)555-1212, jsmith@photo.com

2. Have your Mom or Dad read the contest rules. You’ll each need to sign the entry form for you to be eligible to win a prize.

3. Mail or bring your photo and parent signed entry form to:
