In September 2009, acclaimed director Ken Burns will release his latest documentary entitled The National Parks: America's Best Idea. The National Park Service this film will rekindle the connection between the American people and their national parks.

With the financial support of a grant from the National Park Foundation, Stones River National Battlefield in partnership with Nashville Public Television and others will host a variety of programs and events designed to educate our youth about the wide array of resources and stories that can be found at National Park Service sites. 

This project was made possible in part by a grant from the National Park Foundation through the generous support of the Evelyn and Walter Haas Jr. Fund.

Stones River National Battlefield uses prescribed fire to preserve the battlefield landscapes. Fire also helps eliminate invasive exotic plants and encourage the growth of native grass species.
