Park Rangers and Volunteers present children's programs in Steamtown's Children's Education & Discovery Center. These programs are designed for children ages 5 to 10.

Our new Children's Education & Discovery Center offers two programs for children ages 5 to 10 featuring "hands-on" child-friendly learning and multimedia presentations.

Story Time includes books such as "Orphan Train", "A Lucky Dog", "The Prairie Train", and others. Railroad safety is also covered.

Working on the Railroad brings the jobs of the engineer, fireman, conductor and trainman to life. Railroad Safety is also covered.

These programs are offered on some Saturdays and Sundays. On days that the programs are offered, titles and times are posted at the Visitor Center Desk. Program days and times may be obtained by calling (570) 340-5339 during regular business hours.

Due to space limitations, free tickets are required (available at the Visitor Center Desk).

This program is included in the Park Entrance Fee.

Parents must remain with children during the program.

A cup of water expands to 1,600 times its volume when boiled, changing from a liquid to a gas!

Did You Know?
When boiled, a cup of water creates about 1,600 cups of steam! When the resulting steam is contained in a vessel such as a steam locomotive boiler, it can create up to 300 pounds per square inch of pressure. Learn more about steam locomotives at Steamtown National Historic Site!
