Special Note: Due to special security requirements at Springfield Armory National Historic Site, most applicants for volunteer positions are required to submit to and successfully complete a federal background investigation before commencing as a volunteer. This investigation takes approximately one month to complete after all the necessary documentation is sent in. The background check is paid for by the National Park Service and requires submission of documents and finger prints that can be done on site or at your closest Police station. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact the park for more information.
