Springfield Armory NHS is proud to offer our Evolution of Springfield Firearms Program that highlights the technological advancements of the weapons which were manufactured at the Springfield Armory. Program begins in the Armory Museum with a Ranger-led presentation followed by an interpretive blank-firing demonstration outside.

Visitors can learn about Springfield Armory's historic weapons through the senses of sight, the sounds of rifles blasting, and the acrid smell of burning gun powder. National Park Service Volunteers and Rangers will describe and then fire reproductions of historic Springfield Armory weapons that include a flintlock musket, the percussion rifle musket, and the "Trapdoor" breech-loading rifle. Mark your calendars for August 2, & 16, and Sept 13 & 27.
