"Hands-on" Springfield flintlock musket
Hands-on Springfield musket model

Now you can try your hand at learning about and "loading" the Springfield Armory flintlock musket by handling our TWICE-LIFE SIZE model of the lock section of a musket. Made through the skill of Clint Bostock, it allows you to see how the half cock works and to feel the 'click' of the sear at full cock!

This close-up view of the lock reveals the stamped marking in the steel lockplate. To the rear is the word SPRINGFIELD while in the middle is the Eagle above US. The modern chain keeps the lock attached to the model when it is unscrewed from the wooden stock.
