Tourism to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Creates Over $181 Million in Economic Benefits
A new National Park Service report shows that 1,395,400 visitors to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in 2014 spent $144.7 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 2,309 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $181.7 million.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Proposes Fee Increase
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is requesting public comment as the park considers an increase to entrance and camping fees beginning in January 2016. The current entrance fees and first-come, first-served camping fees have been in place since 2004 with only a slight increase in fees for reservable campsites which occurred in 2006.

NPS Issues Decision on Kettles Trail
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) Superintendent Dusty Shultz recently announced the issuance of a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Kettles Trail Plan and Environmental Assessment (EA). The National Park Service (NPS) has selected a modified version of the Preferred Alternative (Alternative 4) presented in the EA.

Bay to Bay Trail Plan and Environmental Assessment Public Scoping
The National Park Service (NPS) proposes to develop a hiking and paddling trail that follows the Lake Michigan shoreline in the park from Platte Bay to Good Harbor Bay. To do so, the National Lakeshore will prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA), which will describe and analyze alternatives for this trail.
