Monday, March 27 marks the premier of Sitka National Historical Park’s first electronic field (efield) trip. “Timeless Totems: The Carved History of the Alaska Coast” can be reached at: http://www.efieldtrips.org/ .
Efield trips include an interactive virtual visit, educational worksheet materials, references, and “Ask An Expert” (where students can pose questions to park staff). Those interested can complete the free registration process at the website. The efield trip can be accessed from March 27 through May, with the Ask An Expert event taking place April 11-13.
Sitka’s efield trip focuses on the cultural and preservation history of the park’s totem pole collection. It also celebrates the centennial of the totem poles being placed in the park in 1906.
