It’s a Fee FREE Weekend at Sitka National Historical Park on June 20th and 21st
FREE Hot Dogs, provided by Alaska Geographic Society, Saturday 12-2 at the Visitor Center!
FREE Cell Phone Walking Tour, bring your cell phone and give the tour a try starting at the Visitor Center Seaside porch. Just dial 1-866-387-1112.
FREE Artist demonstrations in the Cultural Center wing.
FREE Special Park Ranger led walks at both Park units. Sign up for tours of the restored Russian Bishop’s House 2nd story starting every half hour from 9-4:30 both days. Tour the Russian American Museum on the Russian Bishop’s House 1st floor which is ALWAYS FREE!
FREE Special Ranger led tours starting at the Visitor Center on Saturday with a “Plant Walk” at 11:30 and a “Battle Walk” at 1:30. On Sunday we will be offering “Battle Walk” at 11:30 and a “Totem Walk” at 1:30.
FREE Films from other National Parks in Alaska will also be shown all weekend, in addition to our own film “Voices of Sitka”
And the Trails are always FREE!
Come on out and enjoy your National Park. Dogs on leash are welcome, and please remember to walk your bike.
Did You Know?
The transfer of Alaska from Russia took place in Sitka. On October 18, 1867, the Russian flag was lowered on Castle Hill, home of Alaska's Russian governors, the American flag was raised, and a brief exchange of statements completed the transfer of Alaska to the United States.
