In addition to the Winter Film Flurry on Saturday April 25th Sitka National Historical Park will be showcasing some of the archaeological treasures we have in our collection. The museum curator will be on hand with six items found in the park during the archaeological survey conducted during 2005-2008. The transfer of Alaska from Russia took place in Sitka. On October 18, 1867, the Russian flag was lowered on Castle Hill, home of Alaska's Russian governors, the American flag was raised, and a brief exchange of statements completed the transfer of Alaska to the United States.
