Park Offers "An Evening in the Park" Summer Program Series

Sitka National Historical Park wraps up its summer evening program series.
Thursday, September 8th
Come join Ranger Ellen Corak for a presentation about salmon and their importance to both the ecosystem and culture of Southeast Alaska. We will start in the Visitor Center's auditorium then walk out to Indian River so come prepared for the weather!
Thursday, September 15th
The final evening presentation of the 2011 season will be a program about the bentwood box.

The Battle of 1804 marked the beginning of Russian governance in Alaska. All that remains of this last major conflict between Europeans and Alaska Natives is a clearing at the site of the Tlingit fort and battlefield.
