Weekend Movie Program - February 21
Sitka National Historical Park will be continuing our weekend movie series with two movies at the visitor center theater this weekend. To help celebrate Black History Month on Saturday, February 21, we will be showing the film Frederick Douglass: An American Life. This film is a documentary on the life and times of Frederick Douglass and his rise from fugitive slave to eloquent orator and spokesman against slavery. On Sunday, February 22, the film will be Longing to Learn: Booker T. Washington’s Story;this film uses Washington’s own words to describe his boyhood years of slavery and his struggle to gain an education. These films will be shown on the hour, every hour, from 9 am to 4 pm. It is free and open to everyone, so stop by the visitor center before your walk through the park this coming weekend.
