April 2, 2011: Park Day

On Saturday, April 2, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Shiloh will be participating in Park Day, the largest volunteer effort for our nation's Civil War battlefields and historic sites. Volunteers are needed to help rangers put wood chips on the Indian Mound trails to help prevent erosion. Space is limited so please sign up in advance by calling 731-689-5696 or e-mail us T-shirts and patches will be awarded to volunteers courtesy of the History Channel and the Civil War Trust.

The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center will also be participating in Park Day. Interested volunteers should contact the Center at 662-287-9273 or e-mail us.

April 6 - April 8, 2011: Annual Anniversary Battlefield Hikes

Please check back for a schedule of hikes to be held on the actual dates of the battle.

April 9 - April 10, 2011: 149th Battle Anniversary Weekend

Shiloh Battlefield will be commemorating the 149th anniversary of the bloody Battle of Shiloh with a Confederate living history encampment and demonstrations on both days. Please check back for a daily schedule.

April 16 - April 24, 2011: National Park Week

Fees will not be charged in celebration of National Park Week. Special ranger led programs will be offered everyday. Please check back for a daily schedule.

April 23, 2011: Junior Ranger Day

Saturday, April 23, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Shiloh Battlefield will be joining state and national parks around the country by hosting special programs to encourage children and their families to enjoy the vast natural and cultural resources in our nation's parks. Children 6 and older have the opportunity to complete the Shiloh Junior Ranger booklet and participate in special activities in order to earn Junior Ranger Day patches and certificates. Anyone interested in participating must register in advance by calling 731-689-5696.

May 28 - May 29, 2011: Memorial Day Weekend Events

Shiloh will host programs and exhibits commemorating America's service men and women throughout history. Displays will be set up in front of the Visitor Center. Weapons firing demonstrations will take place on both days.

May 30, 2011: Memorial Day Service

A memorial service will be held in the Shiloh National Cemetery from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. including the honoring of our troops, a wreath laying and 21 gun salute. Ranger led programs will be offered in the afternoon with a schedule of programs available in the park's Visitor Center.

June 21, 2011: Fee-Free Day

In commemoration of the first day of summer, fees will not be charged in all National Parks.

July 2 - July 3, 2011: Artillery Firing Demonstration

In honor of July 4th, the Shiloh gun crew will be providing cannon firing demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Firing times TBD.

July 23 - July 24, 2011: Artillery Firing Demonstration

In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the 1st Battle of Bull Run (Manassas) the Shiloh gun crew will be providing cannon firing demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Firing times TBD.

September 3 - September 4, 2011: Artillery Firing Demonstration

In celebration of Labor Day weekend the Shiloh gun crew will be providing cannon firing demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Firing times TBD.

September 24, 2011: National Public Lands Day

Shiloh will again be participating in National Public Lands Day, a hands-on volunteer effort for our public lands. Projects TBD.

November 11 - November 13, 2011: Fee Free Weekend

In honor of Veterans Day, no fees will be charged Friday through Sunday.
