Riverside Drive, shown on the park Brochure Auto Tour Map as a historic road trace for hiking use only, is currently under construction and for visitor safety is officially closed to public access. The area closed to permit construction encompasses the entire roadway and the earthen causeway over Dill Branch ravine located between (north of) the Shiloh Indian Mounds National Historic Landmark and the National Cemetery. The closed work zone is clearly posted at the western edge of Cloud field, at the junction of Riverside Drive and the Hamburg-Savannah Road, and at the exit of Riverside Drive immediately south of the National Cemetery. Visitors are asked not to enter the work zone for any purpose.
The closure of all public access, driving, hiking, biking, etc, will remain in affect until construction is complete. Schedule date of completion for this project is July 2008.
