Shiloh Battlefield will be hosting a special Children's Christmas Program for young children and families on Saturday, December 21. Kids will construct 19th century Christmas ornaments, learn how Christmas was celebrated during the Civil War period, and create Christmas cards for our troops currently deployed overseas through "Operation Christmas Cards." As a special treat, Santa Claus has confirmed that he will take time from his busy schedule to visit with the children.

The program will begin at 2:00 pm and last about one hour. Anyone interested in joining the park for this special holiday program are encouraged to register in advance by calling the Shiloh visitor center at 731-689-5696 as space is limited.

As a reminder, the Shiloh Battlefield Visitor Center, Shiloh Bookstore, and the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. These facilities will be open on the day prior to the specific holiday, and the day following the scheduled observance. These three specific days will be the only holiday closure dates.

For more information on this and other special park events, visit the Shiloh website at or find us on Facebook at
