April Anniversary Special Events
April 6-10, 2005

Shiloh National Military Park will provide a series of anniversary events to commemorate the 143rd anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. This five day-long commemorative period will begin with two days of ranger-led battlefield hikes on the actual anniversary dates, April 6 and 7, 2005. Each hike will average three to four miles in length and will provide enthusiasts with a detailed look at several aspects of the battle through on-the-ground analysis and exploration.

These two days of hikes will be followed by two days of living history demonstrations. These living history events will be held in two primary locations: the Visitor Center area and the Cloud Field complex on the auto tour route between Tour Stops #2 and #3.

Several different events will be taking place at the Visitor Center, such as a Federal infantry encampment that will perform drills, maneuvers, and firing demonstrations on both days. Also at the Visitor Center will be a naval exhibit detailing the navy's role at Shiloh and in the western theater.

The Confederate encampment will be at Cloud Field, where cavalry, artillery, and infantry reenactors will also perform drills, maneuvers, and firing demonstrations throughout both days.

There will also be civilian interpretation at the Manse George Cabin, located at Auto Tour Stop # 13.
