National Park Service Northeast Region Science Program
This site is maintained by the Regional Chief Scientist’s Office, Northeast Region, National Park Service. Information about Shenandoah and other parks within the Northeast Region is provided.

National Park Service Natural Resources Central Office
This site is maintained by the Natural Resource Directorate of the National Park Service. Within this Directorate are a series of program offices that provide support services to units of the National Park System across the country, including Shenandoah National Park. Support services are grouped as air resources, water resources, geologic resources including soils, biological resources, and environmental planning and compliance. Small offices focused on things like data management, resource information transfer, and research administration are also represented.

National Park Service Mid-Atlantic Inventory and Monitoring Network
This site is maintained by the Mid-Atlantic Inventory and Monitoring Network or the National Park Service. Shenandoah is one of several parks that participate in this network. The purpose of the Network is to develop and foster better understanding of what natural resources are found in each park and to assess their condition and trends.

National Park Service Fire Management Program
This site is maintained by National Park Service personnel stationed at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho. Staff who work in this office deal with all aspects of wildland fire including planning, suppression, burned area rehabilitation, fire ecology, fire effects monitoring, and interagency coordination.

Shenandoah Watershed Study
Shenandoah National Park has maintained a long-standing relationship with the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia related to water quality and acid deposition caused by air pollution. This link provides access to technical details associated with this long-term water quality monitoring program.
