George Washington Carver National Monument is hosting a volunteer-led effort to control invasive exotic plants identified at the park. This work will take place in the woodlands and on the prairie. Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs) will remove these nuisance plants by pulling and cutting.

Homestead National Monument of America invites the public to participate in our deer survey and prairie seed collection for Public Lands Day. Last year, National Public Lands Day was a huge success. More than 120,000 participants planted more than 1.6 million trees at over 1,800 events in all 50 states. In 2009, we hope to have the participation of even more volunteers throughout the country, and make the 16th annual National Public Lands Day the most successful yet.
