The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail will commemorate the events and people that led to the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 with activities throughout 2015. Join the Selma to Montgomery NHT for "Children of the Movement" on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 –6:00 p.m. at the Lowndes County Interpretive Center, 7002 U.S. 80 West, White Hall, Alabama 36041. This program is the 2nd in the year-long 50th Anniversary Lecture Series.
The program will introduce three panel guests –Ms. Joanne Blackmon Bland, Mr. Charles Mauldin, and Ms. Sheyann Webb-Christburg –who were children that participated in the 1965 Selma Voting Right movement. The "children foot soldiers" will each discuss the role they and other children played in the movement. The stories of Ms. Bland, Mr. Mauldin, and Ms. Webb-Christburg will present their personal experience in the movement and their thoughts about the movement. The program will be facilitated by Dr. Lisa Bratton, Tuskegee University History and Political Science professor and will include a question and answer period.
