Mineral King Facilities & Services

During the summer, facilities and services are available. The Mineral King Road closes November 1 and reopens for Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting.

INFORMATION (NPS)

Mineral King Ranger Station: On Mineral King Road, 24 miles east of Hwy. 198.Road is steep. RVs and trailers strongly discouraged. Maps, local wilderness permits, first aid, bear canisters. Daily 8am - 4:30pm June through early September. After that, wilderness permits are available on the porch of the station.

CAMPING (NPS)

No reservations. RVs or trailers not permitted. Pit toilets, drinking water; 6 people and 1 vehicle per site. After the water is shut off in mid-October to prevent freezing pipes, there are no fees charged.

Cold Springs: West of ranger station 1/4 mile. 37 sites. $12/night.

Atwell Mill: On Mineral King Road, 6 miles west of ranger station. 21 sites. $12/night.

PICNIC AREAS (NPS)

Mineral King: Tables across road from ranger station. Drinking water in front of station.

OTHER FACILITIES

Mineral King Pack Station: Closed in 2004; for information call the park: 1-559-565-3106.

Silver City Mountain Resort (private): On Mineral King Road, 3 miles west of ranger station. Chalets and rustic cabins, limited supplies, showers, no ice or gasoline, restaurant. 559-561-3223 (off-season: 805-528-2730).
