In 2003, Fort Frederica and the Southeast Archaeological Center supervised the construction of a permananent education trench to replace the original trench which had undergone continued weathering and use degradation since 1994. The new trench is constructed of tabby walls protected by an open cover. Artifacts from the education program collection are reburied by NPS staff to be used throughout the school year. |
