New Winter Hours at the Monument
As in previous years, the Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center and Summit Road will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.The remainder of the park will be open from sunrise to sunset and the public is welcome to park in the parking lot and take advantage of the hiking trails.Pedestrians may also make use of the summit road since no vehicles will be driving on it.As always, pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and their owners clean up after them.
Beginning January 2, the Visitor Center at Scotts Bluff National Monument will be open from 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 5:00 PM daily.The Visitor Center will be closed on all federal holidays from Thanksgiving through President's Day."Few visitors,limited daylight during the winter months, and a desire to have a robust summer season led to this decision, " stated Park Superintendent Ken Mabery.
