Hours Change at Monument
|
The summer is at an end with children in school and daylight hours shortening. The result is fewer visitors at Scotts Bluff National Monument. During the summer the hours have been 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with the road to the bluff closing at 6:30 pm. Starting Sunday, August 12 the hours will change to 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the road to the bluff closing at 4:30 pm. The visitor center will be open until 5:00 pm. The monument will continue to be open daily. The grounds will be open and walkers are free to hike the trails until sunset. These hours will be in effect until next summer. The Friday evening ranger programs will continue through August 17 and the Saturday afternoon guest speaker series will continue through August 25. Living history at the wagons will still take place on weekends through September and on various weekdays through August.
