Tour Fees

There is a fee to enter our historic buildings or go on board the replica tall ship Friendship.
Click here for our tour schedule. 

Tour fees are:

  • Adults: $5.00
  • Children (6-16) and Seniors (62+): $3.00
  • Children under 6: Free.

Free things to do at Salem Maritime NHS

  • Watch our free orientation film on the history of Salem's maritime trades and traditions in the Orientation Center.
  • Walk down the historic wharves and enjoy the view of Salem Harbor.
  • Learn about the history of Salem's seafaring days on our illustrated wayside panels.
  • See what kind of exotic cargo would be coming into the United States from the East Indies in the exhibits in the Public Stores and the Scale House behind the Custom House.
  • Enjoy the flowering plants and herbs in the 18th century garden behind the Derby House.
  • Visit the West India Goods Store and shop for spices, coffee, tea, and other exotic goods, just as the citizens of Salem would have done over 200 years ago. 
  • Earn a Junior Ranger Badge! 
 
The 1762 Derby House at Salem Maritime

The Derby House, built in 1762, was the first home of Elias Hasket Derby and his wife, Elizabeth Crowninshield. Tours of this furnished historic home are offered daily at Salem Maritime.
The Regional Visitor Center in Salem is a brick building with a high peaked roof.
